The Dooms Day Diary Entry

During class, our teacher called us down and she started to read a book to us, it was called The Anzac Violin by Jennifer beck and Illustrated by Robyn Belton. This book was about a man who carried a violin almost everywhere he went during the war, and he would play to the men at night in there cabins and they all loved it, it also was a diary entry about his experience and how he felt. We were given a task to write a better diary entry about a certain moment in the book and we had to create a better version, we used an attributes chart that had what we heard, saw, the location, temperature and movement, we described everything and then wrote a paragraph we could only use 6 full stops. This task I found tricky but I enjoyed it because I love descriptive writing and I like creating sad yet descriptive story's. The man beside me was screaming in pain, I tried to tune it out, then slowly I heard him take his last breath and he died right beside me, the thought of my life ending at this very moment scared me what would happen to me and what about the violin, I tried to stay calm and relax but it is very hard to when you don’t know if your life is about to end or not. It was still daylight and If I popped up I would be killed instantly. I was in agonising pain and my leg was throbbing, but I had to stay low. I was lying in my own blood coloured snow, I hoped that nobody spotted it and I didn’t get found, I just had to wait it out till sundown. I heard the sound of bullets whirring past me and the bombs were getting closer and closer, Then I could hear snow rustling about and I could hear people on the other side crawling and coming closer, I was going to risk my own life but didn’t care I screamed out to one of the guys on my left. They are coming from the right, fire at the ready. Later that night it was dark and gloomy, and I started scuttling through the snow, I shuffled around dead bodies and hurt comrades, the thought that all these mean had normal wonderful lives and know their time is over. when I finally made it to one of the shell holes, I slumped down into it and I was dealt to immediately, this day I would never forget.

My Christmas poem

In class, for writing we looked back on the genre of writing we have been learning about. We got to do any piece of writing we wanted, like persuasive, narrative and even recounts. I chose to do a Cinquain poem which is were you have five lines and it starts with a noun, I did my poem about Christmas and I did two. 

I looked up a few words in a dictionary to help me enlarge my vocabulary. I found it a little tricky to find words for Christmas and not having to use the same ones. But I liked widening my vocabulary and learning new words.

The True Story Of Hansel and Gretel

In our class we were very lucky to be invited to go watch the royal New Zealand ballet company perform Hansel and Gretel. I was excited to go and watch it and one of my favourite parts was when these ice cream mean came out on stage and did a funny dance. The performance was different to the story I've been told, but I thought it was amazing, and the characters looked so cool. In class for writing we talked about how there were so many different story's of Hansel and Gretel that we had to create our own story of Hansel and Gretel and we got to add in all sorts of twists and turns. I hope you enjoy my story, please leave a comment and tell me what I could do better next time.

The true story of Hansel and Gretel One day Hansel overheard his mother screaming, he rushed out to the lake but it was to late Hansel's mother had drowned. “Father father father” said Hansel mother has drowned. “What, you better not be messing with me Hansel”, “ i’m not, quick come look”. Hansel's father Ron grabbed Gretel and Hansel and ran down to the lake, he saw his partner lying there lifeless, tears started streaming down his face, Gretel ran to her room screaming and Hansel cried from the top of his lungs, his father sat on his knees holding his partner in his arms wondering how it all happened.

later that day Hansel helped his father bury the body, it was quite outside the birds stop chirping, the trees swayed quietly and the river stopped flowing. It was quiet at dinner, no one said a word, the father was dying inside, he stormed into his room and took no notice of the kids.

Gretel couldn’t take it she ran out into the woods as fast as she could with tears running down her face, Hansel chased after her. “ Gretel wait you might get hurt”.

After 20 minutes Gretel stopped she looked around and realised she didn’t know where she was, Hansel grabbed her by the hand and pulled her underneath the shelter of a big mushroom, he wrapped his coat around Gretel and they laid down under the mushroom.

2 hours later Hansel woke up, in the distance Hansel could see a glowing figure it had long brown hair and pure white clothes, its eyes were as bright as the sun and it had wings as soft as wool. Hansel got closer and closer and realised he was looking at the face of his mother, tears of joy ran down his cheeks he wrapped his arms around his mother and wished that the moment could last forever but it couldn’t his mother made a glowing path of footprints back to Hansel and Gretel's house, so Hansel picked up Gretel and piggy backed her all the way home.

When they got home they found their dad was with another woman she had short white hair and dark green eyes, she had long fingernails and she looked very pretty. “Well hello you must be Hansel and you must be Gretel” “ Father who is this” asked Hansel “This is your new step mother and from now on we will need you to start getting jobs” Hansel and Gretel were a very poor family and they didn’t have a very big house. “Also, where did you go you were gone for two hours” asked father “Me and Gretel just needed to clear our heads” “Ok” said father Gretel and Hansel’s new step mothers name was Polly and she said that Hansel and Gretel should come with her to go get her stuff and bring it to their house, so they did.

After 15 minutes of walking Hansel and Gretel stopped outside a house made of gingerbread and candy. “You can have some, if you want,” said Polly Hansel and Gretel had a couple mouthfuls then went inside.

Its starting to get dark thought Polly so why don’t you stay the night, Hansel and Gretel didn’t really want to but they did also agree that it was dark outside so they stayed the night. That night, Hansel and Gretel were given lots of food and then they were put straight to bed. A 10pm Hansel's mother appeared and told Hansel to eats lots of food tomorrow because they had a big day ahead.

That morning Hansel took some food up to his bedroom and offered some of it to his mother, his mother refused but started stuffing the food in Hansel’s mouth.

Hansel's father thought that the kids should stay with Polly for a few more days so they can bond and get to know each other. So the kids stayed and each day Hansel got fatter and fatter.

The mother kept on shoving food down Hansel’s throat, and he kept on eating it. The next day it was just about lunchtime so Gretel went with Polly to go get some berries for lunch. Hansel was helping his mum in the kitchen and she was heating up the oven, “Hansel” said the mother, “come check if the oven is hot enough” “Ok mum” Hansel’s mother stood behind him and just as soon as he put his head in, the mother went to push him in the oven, but then Hansel yelled.. “Now Gretel”, Gretel came storming through the entrance and shoved her mother in the oven. It fizzled and it popped with a loud bang, the kids ate their mother and Polly screamed and ran all the way to their fathers house.

In the end the kids stayed living in their stepmothers house and Gretel turned into the old, green skinned witch she is and Hansel became her gargoyle. The parents ended up moving away to Never Land and the stepmother was put into a rest care home.
And they lived not so happily ever after.

The Avocado Drama

WALT in class we are learning about paragraphs and we had to go into groups of threes and create a story using scholastic story starters, our main character was an avocado and he plays a big part in the story. First we created the story then we made the picture book today I will be posting the picture book. During this I found it difficult because it took along time and it was hard to create the characters but in the end  I finished with my buddy's. Here is my picture book.

Mr Woodpecker

WALT in class we were put into groups of three we had to create a slideshow where someone did the character someone did the setting and the other person did the problem then altogether we did the solution and put it into one big piece of writing. I did the character and I was really confused and didn't know what I was doing but I got help and went with what I had. Our teacher gave us a character a setting and a problem. I think the character was the hardest to do but all of them were hard.

Why I Absolutely Love Summer

In class we had to give a description of what season we thought was the best and I chose summer. We had to put a intro and three paragraphs with a conclusion. I found this easy to start with then I struggled coming up with more ideas of why summer is the best but I kept going and did it.

What is your favourite Season?why? 

Don’t you love it when you go outside and feel the rays of sunshine on your face and the warm breeze blows through your hair, unless you are Mr Norman and have a bald head. Summer is my absolute favourite what is yours?

Summer is my favourite season because you get to go outside and go on hikes, also if it is really hot outside then thats your reason why your parents should get you an ice cream, and I do love a creamy delicious ice cream on a hot day.

Do you ever have enough time to go outside and play in winter I don’t, do you get so cold that your lips turn purple, I do, well in summer you don’t have to worry you can run outside and stay warm with the heat of the sun shining on you and you get to go to the pool or be with your family also your not stuck inside being bored.

Some of us love going to the beach to tan and some of us love lying in the sun waiting to crisp, Summer is basically the only time you can do this I mean you can’t do it in winter you will become an ice cube so Summer is the best time to tan and it is the best Season.

In Summer all the flowers and animals are basically fully grown because in spring the animals and flowers start to grow and in summer they are fully grown.

These are my reasons why summer is my favourite Season and why I think it's the best.

The Rolling Earth

The rolling earth 

My name is Jim I was walking down the street going to get a coffee. It was a nice day, blue sky warm breeze morning, the birds were singing and everybody was tucked up warm in bed. When all of a sudden the ground started to shake, I fell over and skinned my knee the statue of liberty fell over and the ground split open. Everyone ran out of their houses screaming and holding on tight to their children. Then suddenly out of the mist in the cracks in the ground dragons started appearing all the people were running to the sea and families were screaming for their lives. There were dragons everywhere I ran to the tallest building I could find and stayed in there. Suddenly a dragon swooped in and smashed the glass. I ran but it was right behind me, I grabbed one of the office chairs and through it at the the dragon but it just growled. Then I said ooooooooooh oooo, okay bye now then the dragons mouth opened and chomp. Whooooo it was just a dream or was it. Nope definitely not a dream I was inside a dragon's stomach the the dragon tipped upside down the earth was rolling. The dragon spat me out and took me to another planet were other humans were but I said no and went back to earth and I invented technology that would hold things still if the earth would roll but then one day the earth really tipped and everybody fell out into space and died. But for one boy who lived and stayed on the other planet rolling candy. And grew up with candy people but the earth kept on spinning and always will.

The Mystery Midnight Walker

Mystery midnight walker The party was awesome the band was amazing. All us high school kids were rocking it, me and my friends were having a great time. Oh by the way my name is Lily. that night it was nearly midnight. We ran out of fizzy drinks so I went to get some from the supermarket. As I was walking I thought I heard a noise. I think it was just my imagination. So I kept on walking. I heard it again and this time it wasn’t my imagination. I started walking faster it got really cold I was frightened. I was nearly at the supermarket id be okay. Then I got into the supermarket and bought some drinks. After that I was walking back, suddenly the street lights turned off. I was frightened, I didn’t move a muscle. I felt this cold breeze on the back of my neck it was chilly. Then the street lights turned back on and I saw a lady walk out of the supermarket. I started to feel less scared now. So I turned around and kept on walking. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh , I turned around and saw the supermarket lady lying on the ground. She wasn’t dead but she was scared and has been frozen. There was a little bit of blood on the ground. I quickly called an ambulance, and they came right away. After that I quickly ran back to the party droped of the drinks and kept dancing with my friends. 2 hours later I decided to go home, and the party was on for another 4 hours. After that I asked my dad to come and pick me up so he did. When I got home I went straight to bed. In the morning got up early and got ready for school. I tried to forget about that lady thing that happened last night but it was really hard. So I got dressed and brushed my teeth. Then walked to highschool. After that I saw my friend heather. Oh hey I said. Sup she said back. Enjoy the party last night she said. Yeah it was awesome. I was wondering if I should tell her about the creepy lady thing. Then I thought naa, because she’s one of those friends that spreads the word. But I would tell Milley because she I can trust. So then me and heather walked to class and saw Milley, hey . Oh hi guys said Milley. I didn’t see you at that party last night said Heather. Oh that’s because my dad said that there’s a person that goes round striking people at night and they call her the mystery midnight walker. Oh i've never heard of her before said Heather. Heather was a girl who didn’t talk to many other people sometimes. Last night Heather said she was going to be gone for a couple of hours weirdly it's not like her to say at a party she is going to be gone for a couple of hours. So yeah suddenly Heather quickly changed the subject. Um but I was shocked normally Heather would drag things on but this she didn’t. Anyways we started our history class and talked about stuff. Now I’ll quickly tell you a little bit about Milley. Milley is a nice girl she is fun and can sometimes be naughty. But she is respectful and a careful girl. But Heather is really naughty, and she gets in trouble a lot of the time. So we were in class and were doing our work and I saw Heather was writing something in her diary, so I leaned over to see what she was writing. But she quickly closed her book. Something was up with Heather she didn’t seem her normal self. After the lesson. It was mt, Heather wasn’t talking to me. So I went up to her and said hey are we okay. She said yeah we're fine, I’d just like a day alone. That's not normally like you I said you always want to be around someone and are always looking for fun, I said I just wanted a day alone now would you please leave. I walked away but I knew something was up she was never like this. So I went home and went on facebook and cheeked out her stuff but there was nothing on there that seemed to be bothering her, but I knew something was up. Now it was dinner time so I just thought I would forget about it. I went down to the dinner table and my parents asked me about how the party was, I froze I didn’t want to tell my parents about the supermarket lady. So I said the party was fine. I told My parents I wasn’t hungry and left the dinner table. I lay on my bed and thought who the Mystery midnight walker could be. Then I remembered at school how we were talking about the mystery midnight walker and Heather acted all weird about it. Maybe heather is really scared of the mystery midnight walker. After a while of thinking I fell asleep. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.The next morning I woke up to a start I heard my mum screaming, so I ran up to her bedroom and dadd was lying on the floor he was in a coama, and there was this strange person in our room with a mask and a crow bar, it was only 3,clock in the morning and someone was in our house. But then I saw something strange they were wearing the same pair of shoes and the same bracelet Heather wore yesterday. I went to grab the phone but the person hit it out of my hands and ran away. Mum was lying on the floor crying while holding dad. He got hit in the head with the crow bar she told me. I called the Ambulance and dad was taken into Hospital. Mum told me to get ready for school so I did and walked to school. When I got to school I went to Heather and told her what happened in the morning, that’s terrible she said. Heather put her bag on her hook and then went into the classroom, are you coming she asked me, yeah I said I’ll just be a minute. When everybody was out of sight I went searching through Heather's bag then Milley saw me and said, what are you doing, I’m looking through Heather's bag to prove that she’s the mystery midnight walker. You got me said Heather as she grabbed the crow bar out of my hands, why I asked Heather, because I would be the most popular person in school and I can do what I want replied Heather. She took a swing at me with the crow bar. Milley run and call the police I told her. Heather ran after Milley with the crow bar. Then Heather turned and took a swing at me but Milley jumped in front and took the hit. She was bleeding really bad. Then the police stormed in the room and grabbed Heather Milley was taken to Hospital, My dad lived, but Milley died.because of what happened to Milley I became the mystery midnight walker and I swore revenge on Heather and I would make her pay.

The Green Pill

W.A.L.T In class we had these colored pills and they all had different super powers that they could give you.
I chose the green pill and i could turn into any animal. then you had to write a story about the pill and
this is my story.

I was walking through the rough dirt in the woods with my family. When all of a sudden i turned around
for a second then looked back and they were gone. I gasped i didn’t know what to do. I was to frightened
so i started running. Then i tripped over and hit my head. Suddenly everything went black
. …………………….

Are you okay are you okay. I woke up in the flash of a moment and this creature was asking me if i was okay. I layed still and didn’t move, but the creature told me it wouldn’t harm me. So i got up and it asked
me, can you help me get over the creek I’m on a mission for my family. Okay I said so I picked up the little
creature and walked him across the creek. After that he said come with me and i will return a favor. So the
little creature took me into his house and showed me these pills. I said i don’t want pills. The creature said
there not just ordinary pills they give you magical powers. The green one gives you the ability to turn into
any animal. Before the creature could even finish his sentence i ate the pill. Goodbye i said bye said man.
Then he yelled out the pill only lasts for a day. But i don’t think i was listening to the creature the only thing
i was thinking about was what animal i would turn into first. But before i could even try this eagle saw me
so i quickly transformed into a baby eagle. After that the mama eagle picked me up and took me back to
her nest but then it all went wrong. The mama eagle was chewing up bunny and putting it in her baby
eagles mouth. Then I realized before i could do anything the chewed food was down my throat. I tried
not to barf it was horrible. Soon the mama eagle left to find more food. As soon as she left i quickly
transformed into a falcon. I sawed through the air with the wind in my wings. Then i realized that I
could find my family with these powers. But i didn’t know where to go. I thought I would turn into a
cheetah so i did but then I found out that I was falling through mid air. So I quickly turned into a sparrow
landed on the ground and then turned into a cheetah. I was running so fast it was amazing.then i came to a
halt i heard voices it was my family. I was about to take another step when i realized that i had to cross a
river to get to the other side so i turned into a alligator and started swimming across as i was just about to
get out of the water something grabbed hold of my leg its teeth were sinking into my leg and i realized it
was another alligator and before i thought it could get worse it did i started to turn back into a human the
powers were wearing off. I didn't want to die so i swooped round and scratched the alligator then ran for
my family mum dad i yelled i’m here, mum and dad saw me they came and gave me a big hug they
asked what happened and were had i been but i said that's a story that's going to need a lot of explaining.

The Ninja Samurai

W.A.L.T Brainstorm in class and so first we did a brain storm and then we wrote our story. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mummy what's going on ? Darling there's war . who are you playing with? My pet tiger. “Alright pack your stuff” but mum”just do as I say. “Get on your pet tiger and run as far away as you can. “But i'm only six, “please darling” alright I said, love you mum………………… 5 years later Tiger! Look I found this cave, maybe we could stay in here. Come on. But I wondered if we would ever see light again. I stepped into the cave it was freezing, so I sent tiger out to get some wood. After a while tiger came back with wood and so we lived there for many years. But soon came war.The men were just standing outside of the cave. I whispered to tiger, got your teeth and claws ready tiger nodded. I grabbed my sword and I defeated them but before I could do anything a dragon headed towards me and tiger. Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. Huhuhuhu it was just a dream I told myself or was it……….

I was put on and my friend Mya the sock slid into me. My hair was done (laces).

I started walking, I wandered through the park with carlos the humans feet in me.

We stopped, Carlos got Ice cream, lucky him I said. As we were walking back Mya

the sock said she was starting to stink and get sweaty, I said don’t make me wet and

smelly, sorry said Mya I already have,AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RRRRRGHHHH I

sighed. After that we went home, got washed and put back in our draws ready for the next day.

how to plant a seed

Materials

• Seed
• Soil
• Water
• Sun
• Pot
• Popsicle stick

1. Get a cup fill it with dirt and put on a glove

  2. Put your finger down in the soil then take it out and put  the seed down the hole.

 3. Put dirt over the hole and make sure it's covered.

4. Then pour some water over it .

5. put it in the half shade half sun.

6. At the end of the day before you leave give it a little more water.

Things Santa is changing

Hello I am lametta glitter stockings. And there is a problem. And that problem is for santa to fix it. I am tired of working and so are my friends Eggnog cuddle trifle and cupcake silverspice. Being up  all day and night. And santa is always getting cookies and sleep and flying around in his slay. If santa want me to stay and work then some changes haft to happen. So the changes are. All of us elves haft to get sleep and we get to have dinner with you and we get to ride in your slay. And that’s all we need. Okay said santa those changes will happen tomorrow good I said. home sweet home

Home sweet home I live in a castle with the humans you see i'm different to them but they still love me. I am a dog. And one day I saw the little girl I lived with, her name was Lucy. fighting with her auntie I wondered what it was about. That night I was wokin by Lucy she grabbed me and jumped out the window then we ran to the bridge and we got on a boat and rowed down the lake and we fell asleep. The next morning we got stuck on shore and we found two pirates. The man asked why we were out here”. Lucy said her Auntie wouldn't let her see her father so i’m trying to find him. The guy went inside and found this poster if you find this girl named Lucy and bring her back you'll get 2000 $. the pirate went outside and asked what is your name little girl Lucy the guy said why don't you go back to your Aunt's no I'm never going back said Lucy, the pirate was walking towards her I barked at him we saw this boat and hopped on it. We sailed down the river. The pirates saw Lucy's auntie coming she asked where's the child. The pirate said we lost her you lost her! Well, do you know where she is. She sailed down the river the pirate said. Well let’s go the auntie said. Her auntie was riding down on a scooter and the pirates were in a jet. They raced down the river they saw her she started, speeding when she saw her auntie. Lucy and I hid behind the corner. We lost them. After that we found this old house we stopped the boat and hopped out and went to look we opened the door and, looked inside Lucy said we will stay until sunrise. Sometimes Lucy talks to me even tho i’m a dog. Me and lucy sat down and fell asleep. Next we heard this knocking on the door then lucy opened the door it was lucy's auntie, she marched in and tried to grab lucy. Lucy asked why are you here the auntie replied if you didn't come back we wouldn't get the thousand dollars from your father and we’d be poor. Lucy said you greedy and selfish then her auntie grabbed her took her, upstairs and locked her in a room.Lucy banged on the door but it was no use, All she wanted was to see her dad. The auntie said to Lucy's uncle that little girl just does not understand we need the money. Lucys aunties name was Plump Rump nobody ever called her that because she didn't like it. Lucys aunt turned up the fire then the telephone caught fire the fire went up the stairs and into the room that Lucy was in Lucy screamed for help we were trapped we did not know what to do then she grabbed me and we jumped out the window and got on the boat then we sailed away. Then this helicopter appeared and it was Lucy’s Dad he came and rolled down the ladder then Lucy picked me up and we climbed the ladder and then her father took us home. Lucy’s uncle and auntie were sent to Jail for 23 years and they were taught their lesson after they got out of prison they moved to auckland. Me and lucy and her father lived happily ever after.
