Rhino's

 Hi all,

I have done a task for biodiversity about Rhino's. I had to pick a species first and then do a DLO on their food chain. The reason I picked rhino's was cause I thought it woul be fun to learn more about them.

I had to do a little description about them and what their food chain is like. This task was fun and simple, to do from home.

if there's anything I can do to make my work better than please let me know.

Newsletter

 Kia Ora everyone,

Today I finished my writing task during online school.

The task was to create a news letter about any topic we want but it had to be something that would hook the reader in or that was a story in the world today, it could also be about a person an animal or problem.

I decided to base my topic on Climate change. I chose this because it meant I got to learn about it more and it was a fun topic to write about.

At first I searched up Greta Thunberg, to get some ideas of what Climate change is really like and whats actually going on.

I enjoyed this writing task, and I hope you learn something from it.

Sister Aroha

 Kia Ora everyone,

Because we are still in lockdown we have to do online learning sadly. This morning I decided to get a start on my RE work.

The topic for todays RE was about Sister Aroha who is now a nun and moved from New Zealand to Sri Lanka to help care for the sick children and become a nun.

For my task today I had to create a poster explaining how we could follow in Sister Aroha's footsteps.

I enjoyed doing this.

please leave a comment if there is anything I could improve.

My trip to Orana

Yesterday my class and room 6 went on a trip to Orana wildlife park.

The reason we went there is because we are learning about biodiversity and biodiversity represents all the animals and insects in the world including us humans.

Yesterday we walked around Orana park with and educator that works there; she pointed out each animal and told us facts about them and how they help our planet. She even showed us a lion skull and some dead Ferrets that had been cleaned and stuffed. We got to feed girraffes and I loved seeing the gorrilas there they were really cool and interesting to learn about.

Fun fact about gorillas: They don't actually make physical contact they just pound their chest to show dominance and make themselves look tougher.

here are some pictures of the animals we saw.

Insect symmetry

Kia ora,

Today in class we have been doing symmetrical drawings, using pictures of insects. The insect I chose was a ladybug. I traced the other side of the picture and coloured it in. The two reasons we did this were because a) we are learning about biodiversity and so insects fit in with the topic and b) we also did this as part of a maths project.

Dragon writing

Hi everyone,
Today I am posting and talking about ym dragon writing.
It has been a while since my last post as I have been busy and havent done well with keeping up my blogging.
At the start of this term we learnt about the 6 different sentence types.
- Noun W
- Some others
- Are all examples of
- P+P S+A
- DE DE
- 2A
These are all the sentence types.
We had to use these sentence types in a piece of writing. At first we got given a dragon to write about and we had to use the information we got from the description of them and use it in a piece of writing whilst also using the 6 sentence types. After we finished that pice of writing we got to create a story about our own dragon.
I named my dragon Karl and he is very friendly.
If you want to know more about him then read my story.

My Dragon Karl

Karl is a kind, powerful dragon: he is the only one of his species left as far as we know. Karl has been spotted by explorers a few times and hasn’t got along with the visitors, the reason being the explorers (poachers) tried to kill him for his skin.

Appearance

Karl has a black, orange and red body. He has a chubby body, and small wings he can fly with, just not for very long. Karl has powerful hind legs which makes him very speedy. He has a morning star shaped tail which is very sharp, and is used in battle.

Habitat

Karl lives in the African Plains during the Summer and then flies to New Zealand for the Winter and hides out in little Hornby, because the weather is just the right temperature for him.

Usually you will find Karl up in trees, in underground huts, or at Hornby McDonalds on thursday. Karl is an omnivore - small creatures, birds, rabbits, fruit, tree leaves and Maccas - are all examples of his balanced diet.

Amazing facts

Some dragons are skilled in flying; others are good at climbing and running, dragons like Karl. He can shoot flaming hot lava from his mouth and can set the ground a flame with each step he takes. His bite is stronger than any other dragons; he can chew through bone and metal.

Dragonologists believe to stay away from Karl unless you know or are friendly to him, otherwise beware.

Kawa of care

Aloha!
Today I have made a Google drawing teaching others how to be safe with their crhomebook or computer.
Before I made this DLO I had to learn how to be safe with my chromebook, an example would be I learnt not to put my chrombook near the edge of a desk incase it fell off, doing this is going to help me alot to keep my computer and myslef and others safer because its also about protecting you and others. When doing this task I found it qute easy and quite good because it taught me what not to do and what I can do.
Hope you learn something from this.

I found it hard to find out more information about The things they do on Christmas day though.
I hope you enjoy and learn something.
Fun fact: The red background I pt on my project actually symbolises purity, fertility and prosperity.

Commitment?

 Aloha Bloggers,

I have created a newspaper about how bishops and pries'st and deacons and vocations, how they are committed to their jobs and how they show it, and how they follow the rules.

My story is quite short but I didn't have to much to write about. I found this quite easy but fun as well. We have been finishing of work so this is the second to last thing I had to complete.

Here is my story.

Maori book

 Kia Ora bloggers,

The last two weeks of school we have been finishing of work and just getting things completed, last week was Maori language week and we were learning about facts and different things.

We were given our task and set out to create it, our job was to make a DLO ( digital learning object) teaching someone about something in Maori like the months or greetings. I created a book on book creator teaching others the pronunciation of vowels in Maori, Maori colours and the days of the week in Maori.

I enjoyed creating this and I was new to this tool so I had a play around before I started but then I got the hang of it. I would recommend using this tool because its super fun and easy to use.

Hope you enjoy and please leave a comment if you enjoyed.

Pixton

 Hi bloggers,

Today at school, we had an online learning project.

We had to pick four New DLO sites to use and kids form different schools taught us how to use them. Right now we were given the task to blog post about one of the new sites we were taught about today and I decided to write about pixton.

Pixton is a really cool tool to use and you can create comics and you get to create your own avatar and you choose your own background as well you get to customize your character and put it into different types of templates. You can also move your characters position and change their moves.

If you would like to try out pixton Search in the bar Pixton sign up.

I hope you learnt something from the blog post and I would recommend trying this tool out. Please leave a comment if you use this tool and if you enjoyed it or not.

Pirate shanty

Hello Bloggers,
This term for half the term our school is learning about pirates and for reading one of our tasks was to create a DLO on pirate talk.
I found this task fun and easy.
I did this with a group of friends and after doing a bit of thinking I came up with a pirate shanty we could do.
My group thought it was a good idea so we took a recording of us singing our pirate shanty, im sorry if our singing is really bad.
I hope you enjoy our pirate shanty and please leave a comment of what you think.
